How to use mouse trap
Choose the Right Trap: There are various types of mouse traps available, including snap traps, glue traps, and humane traps. For this guide, we'll focus on the traditional snap trap, which is widely used and highly effective.
Select Bait: Choose a bait that is attractive to mice. Peanut butter, cheese, chocolate, or bits of dried fruit are popular options. Place a small amount of bait on the bait pedal of the trap.
Set the Trap: Before handling the trap, ensure your hands are clean to avoid leaving any human scent that might deter mice. Holding the snap arm, carefully pull back the kill bar until it locks into place. This sets the trap and prepares it for placement.
Positioning: Identify areas where mice are likely to travel, such as along walls or near entry points. Place the trap perpendicular to the wall with the baited end facing the wall. Mice typically run along edges, so positioning the trap this way increases the chances of success.
Safety Precautions: Ensure the trap is placed in areas inaccessible to children and pets. Avoid placing traps in damp or wet areas, as moisture can affect their functionality.
Check Regularly: Check the traps frequently, preferably daily, to see if they've caught any mice. If a mouse is caught, handle the trap with caution, preferably with gloves, and dispose of the rodent in a sanitary manner.
Reset or Dispose: After catching a mouse, reset the trap by carefully releasing the kill bar and removing the deceased rodent. If the trap is damaged or no longer functional, dispose of it properly and replace it with a new one.
